Oil changes Spark plug change Water pump/renewed coolant Generator mounts (all rubber goods) and adjuster Carburetor drains (were missing) Intake manifold/carburetor support (were missing) New heater hoses with proper original-style clamps (were seeping) New clamps: duct from air cleaner to intake manifold Proper breather hose and clamps installed Cooling system + heaters o O-rings on heater valves (were seeping) o Passenger-side heater core repaired Addressed dragging brakes o Rear drums machined o Careful torquing of lug nuts seems to have corrected the major issue this is an important consideration if tires will be changed; lug bolts should be drawn up evenly and slowly o Addressed a sticky diaphragm in the brake booster All brake hoses replaced Hose at bottom of brake fluid reservoir replaced Air filter on brake booster All four engine mounts Clutch mechanism o New mount at bell housing o Bearings and covers on swing cap o Adjustment per manual (25mm free travel in clutch pedal) o Nylock nuts at bell housing and swing arm o New bushing on clutch rod o New rubber bellows on fork o Addressed wear on fork Ignition and timing: set per factory manual Carburetors and related o Synchronized carburetors at idle; running smoothly, revs freely. o Note that this vehicle has the correct Solex carburetors; many 190SLs do not. o Linkages on number one carburetor: set to spec and tightened to ensure consistent operation of both carburetors o Mixture adjustment: set per manual o New vent hoses and clamps o New fuel lines into carburetors o New return spring and associated hardware o Addressed sticky accelerator linkage: increased bore of hole in firewall and ensured a smooth surface o Replaced missing vacuum stage ball valve on aft carburetor (brass units on each carburetor) Transmission o Replacement of bushing in shifter linkage o Adjustment of shift rod length to improve shifting o Correction of installation of shift lever mounting plates to reduce play in the mechanism Fuel pump o Installed lever type and addressed previous incorrect installation: useful for priming after car has set for a few days or more (if no resistance, bump starter to reposition the cam) o Fuel lines from pump to carburetor (and associated seals) o Line from filter to pump o Note: cold starts can be difficult if car has been setting for weeks; priming, moderate use of accelerator pump, choke, and patience are all required. General clean-up of engine compartment Fuel tank selector rebuilt; new fuel filter Cosmetic o Paint: clay + polish and wax o Chrome polished o Black rubber trim under front bumper guards o Rubber around fuel filler neck o Replaced rubber under passenger-side door handle o Fuel filler cap replaced (reproduction) o New genuine eyebrows available for installation: this may be best left to a professional as the alignment of holes is not perfect and pieces are easily bent Addressed rearview mirror mounting (assembled incorrectly) Seat adjusters reworked, including new rubber pieces: adjusters are complete for driver and semi-complete for passenger; this was the best solution due to parts availability Addressed wear to trim on drivers seat Replaced weather stripping on hard top (window frames) note that fully closing windows is challenging and door closing is difficult with glass fully up. Practically, this should not be an issue if the car is operated in dry conditions. Some rubber goods such as the windshield seal are in true survivor mode. Remounted passenger-side window glass Known issues o Tires are old and should be replaced. Because individuals may have very different priorities in tire selection, this choice is left for the next owner. o Windshield wiper blades to be replaced o Shift knob is loose; replacement is with the car o Windshield glass is pitted; replacement is with the car o Steering wheel has cracks; replacement may be offered with the car. o No tonneau cover for convertible top o Engine does not have plate; cannot confirm whether engine and body are numbers- matching o Car has been repainted at some point in its life. There are minor flaws.
